Today I Learned That Golden Retrievers Are So Gentle They Can Hold An Egg In Their Mouths Without Breaking It
(Not sure why it wouldn’t let me embed the original tweet with the video so instead we have to watch that weird YouTube version of it. The Barstool Difference at work at all times)
That’s the best video on the internet. Call it recency bias but, for my money, you won’t find more enjoyable content on the world wide web. Pure innocence from that golden retriever. I thought for sure we were about to watch a dog crack an egg in its mouth. I was very incorrect. Look at that dog’s face! Look at her eyes!
She went from not knowing what is being put in her mouth to instantly becoming the legal guardian of that egg. She’s ready to care for that egg for the rest of eternity. She’s ready to go to war for that egg. She couldn’t even be persuaded with the promise of treats. Did people know about this? And if people did, why didn’t anyone tell me? Pretty fucked up. Cause I’m finding out that this is a pretty well-known thing that golden retrievers can hold eggs in their mouths without breaking them.
Here’s what pops up on Google when you search “golden retriever egg”
It’s all over the place. It’s the egg test. Apparently people have been placing eggs in the mouth’s of golden retrievers for some time now. How gentle are golden retrievers, you ask? So gentle that people thought, “What’s the most fragile thing we can out in their mouths to see if it’ll break?” People decided that fragile thing was an egg and golden retrievers passed the test with flying colors. Zero breakage. Life is all about new experiences. Life is all about deepening your existence. Life is all about expanding your knowledge of the world around you. Well today I learned that golden retrievers can hold eggs in their mouth without breaking them. Knowledge is indeed power.
